SHENYANG, China – December 18, 2025​ – Liaoning Provincial Cancer Hospital recently hosted a distinguished delegation of four Indonesian colorectal surgery experts led by Dr. Sofii. Facilitated by HocerMed, the visit fostered an in-depth international exchange on the latest advancements in colorectal cancer treatment, reinforcing HocerMed’s role as a bridge for surgical collaboration between China and the world.

From Conference Room to Operating Theater: An Immersive Academic Dialogue

The exchange began with a candid seminar, where Dr. Zhang Qingtong, Director of the Sixth Colorectal Surgery Ward, welcomed the Indonesian delegation and shared the hospital’s integrated approach to colorectal cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The Indonesian team also observed two landmark surgeries: Total Mesorectal Excision (TME)​ and Transanal Total Mesorectal Excision (taTME). Between procedures, surgeons from both countries engaged in open and constructive discussions, comparing notes on epidemiology, healthcare systems, surgical techniques, instrument application, and the learning curves associated with TME and taTME procedures. Differences and similarities in surgical philosophy and practice provided valuable insights for both sides.
